Physics Engine

Post by stevenp »

It'd be cool if you could incorporate one of the free physics engines (such as Newton). Use of it should be optional because it would require an external DLL but it really could add for some interesting game play options.

Examples of Newton:

This has been discussed a lot of time ago... Let's say that DLL linking is not the priority now :P It would potentially be a really long work, and break the KISS principle. A little of physics can be implemented using ZExpressions (acceleration on slopes or stuff like terrains derived by math expressions), but I do agree that it's quite limited and time-consuming!
In the fall of 1972 President Nixon announced that the rate of increase of inflation was decreasing. This was the first time a sitting president used the third derivative to advance his case for reelection.
