kkrunchy

Post by darkhog »

How about using kkrunchy -> http://www.farbrausch.de/~fg/kkrunchy/
instead of UPX? It gives smaller exes than upx (for instance it compressed my screensaver, in .exe form from 137k uncompressed to 32k instead of UPX's 58k), and is generally better (was used by authors of kkrieger)

So how about using it in ZGE?

ZGE supports kkrunchy. Just select kkrunchy default/best in Settings/Packer settings/Presets and copy kkrunchy.exe to the Tools folder of ZGE.

Thanks! Didn't know that!

By the Way: This forum could use Quick Reply feature.

//edit: And how about bundling kkrunchy along with ZGE? I don't think authors would have anything against it.

Hi darkhog,

ZGameEditor used to have kkrunchy bundled with it, but too many people were getting false positives from the executable .. so it was taken out of the release distribution.

Makes sense when considering how easy it is to pack malware inside programs today.

Well, it doesn't detect UPX-packed executables, so why they can't make exception for kkrunchy too?
