GRID based ASCII editor for level maps

Currently I am using this one;

Does anyone know of a better one? This is designed for drawing 'art' and although it is easier to edit maps with then notepad is not really made for what I am useing it for,. id does let me move blocks around and edit without disrupting the rest of the grid,. :) What I am looking for is a GRID based ASCII editor that runs under windows, must be freeware. Just trying to get the most efficent tool for the job of editing map layouts that I then import into ZGE and use to place the game objects,. my current map is 64x64 but this could change,. as an example;

thanks man,. that is a nice one too,. I still can not figure how to draw a shape using the tools with just the cheracter I want,. but the ZOOM feature rocks! and for actually just drawing in ASCII that is a fine program.

Hey jph,

Have a go at the Brush halfway down the toolbar on the lefthand side ( use space to empty a cell in the Brush Options ) :wink:

lots of uses I can put that to,. just would be nice if I could use all the other circle and arc-spline stuff with any letter as well,. perhaps there is a way i just have to find it. This Figlet stuff is a friggn' blast!
