RSI

RSI? A new cool graphics algorithm perhaps? No unfortunately not, it is the name of a medical condition appearing because of too much time in front of the computer. So currently I have a bit of pain in my arms and hands. It is not so bad at the moment but it needs to be taken seriously because ignoring it can lead to requiring a long sick-leave later on. I've been to the doctor and got some good advice, and I've ordered some items to make my work-place more ergonomic. But the bottom line is that I need to limit the amount of time typing on the keyboard. Which means I will still read all posts on the forum, but I can't reply as much as before because it is actually physically painful for me to type.

So hopefully I'll be back to speed again in a few weeks. It is vacation time after all so I don't feel bad about lowering the productivity a bit. And Kjell is making good progress with the ZGE-code so development does not stop.

rest and relaxation,. good for the sole!

Sorry to hear that,. do get some rest and away time! Perhaps you could consider Yoga or Tie-chi? both of which have helped me,. plus I also like some of the philosophical underpinnings of Vedanta, and Taoism, as these are phisical manifestations of these philosophies they bring you both phisical and spiritual health!

I am sorry too... Just try to fully restore your health, that's all!
And I will work a little on the code too! :)
(joking): just turn skype on, and dictate the code :P :P

:(

RSI is a injury not to be taken lightly, take some well deserved time off and hopefully you'll have a swift recovery.

*When I was working in Sweden some organization came by to measure our desks & chairs and inform us on RSI. Turned out that practically everybody was working in a wrong posture!

Best regards,
Kjell

Thanks guys. Actually some people with this problem use voice dictation software so I might need to try that if this gets worse. It would feel like a sci/fi-movie programming with your voice, hehe...

And please take a minute to consider your own work environment because you don't want this to happen to you too.

Just a quick update to report that the situation has improved remarkably thanks to two product I've bought.

Armrest:

You stick it to the table and while typing you rest your lower arms including elbow.

Instead of mouse, the "mousetrapper advance":

A very nice device with much better response than a notebook touchpad thanks to the fact that the pad is actually following your finger movements.

I can really recommend these products to anyone having similar problems. I'm happy to say that ZGE development is on again and a new release is coming soon.

really happy to know it :D

Ok now it's up to me... I have to pass those 2 damn't exams...

BTW: I want the whole world to know I hate compressors and other gas-related devices, as well as springs with some kind of mass attached to their ends...
