Hi everybody,

Just curious. Please comment when choosing "Other" ( Hexagon / Milkshape 3D / Modo / Rhino / Silo / Wings3d / ??? ).

I am working on learning Blender. I feel that although it may have a steep learning curve in the end it'll be worth it. I know trueSpace is now free but I think Blender has a righ brighter future, plus it has a lot of books of learning it now.

i voted for XSI because it is the only software that approaches all 3d-modelling and user interface-related paradigms in an adequately modern way.

i'd have to admit that i'm almost always using blender, though - the few times that i actually need to create mostly low-fi 3d content myself... yay for open source!

I have used Wings3d and Milkshape3d a bit, and both are great for some things,. wings sculpting, milky for animations, and free and mostly free,. .
I have taken an intensive course in Maya some years back and it was a very powerfull system,. However way more complexity,. as well as cost, than what I am able to use currently,. my needs are for free, simple, easy to use, and mostly low poly,. . I would like some texture painting,. but have not had the time to even look what does that and is free. Blender looks great however It is so nonstandard I have not taken the time to learn it,. yet.

Currrently for me, doing lonewolf style indie game-dev. I would just like to focus on using ZGE purely,. procedural models built from equation generated primatives,. by combining these with generated textures,. and perhaps some shaders I belive great things can be achived,. . that is why I am always looking for more usefull generative stuff,. and you guys have been great in sharing some of your procedures and equations,. For some reason not using imported models appeals to me,. keeping the exe tinny is an odd compulsion,. but is hard to shake. So keep posting your mesh/bitmap generation scripts,. the more generalised the better,. I will compile a nice library eventually,. .

I used Fragmotion for overhauling the stock animations of the Retribution Engine. They are .md2 and it worked great.

For modeling I like Deled (Lite of course, I'm a cheapskate) and I see now they are moving into animation.
