Canada - USA relationship

Post by y offs et »

The fact is, when you get south of the immediate US states bordering on Canada, most US residents haven't much knowledge of our country. This short video was made for them, and may be of interest to our other friends around the world.

A nice video for the most part,. although I do have a problem with the a bit of heavyhanded propoganda embeded in it. Has some nice video of the geography to be sure ;)

I am personaly anti-nationalism (and anti-religion for similar reasons) as this is a ficticious human construct most often used to devide people, and genereate fear/hate leading to mindless war making/victimizing . (always for the profit$ of the few)
In the video a large portion of the time was used to reinforce the current media trend of demonizing Iran,. (they cant have a single nuke, while those against the idea have thousands?? get rid of your own stockpile befor telling others not to build one!) in the guise of showing a 'good' canadian helping americans,. the images and messages in this section added to the millitary/scarry-other images of Afghanistan,. serve to reinforce and perpetuate the militerism/imperialism that keeps people from solving actual problems we face today,. such as a social/economic system built on a single fading finite resource, oil. [ see: http://www.postcarbon.org/ ]
Sorry to rant, however it always strikes me to see a simple sporting event used to push millitary/domination agendas as is often done.
