Please help spread the word about ZGE by posting information about the new 1.9.9 release on the forums you visit. I've written a short press release below so you can use that or your own words if you prefer!

ZGameEditor 1.9.9 released

ZGameEditor is a free game authoring tool that generates native high-performance stand-alone compact executables for Win32, Linux x86 and OS X. Now 3 years after initial release ZGameEditor has reached version 1.9.9 and it's the most feature packed update yet!

ZGameEditor is an ideal tool for experimenting with procedural content generation techniques and developing OpenGL-applications. Make games, demos and screen savers using advanced graphics features such as multiple render passes, render targets and shaders. Instant GUI feedback of your changes. No waiting for build times!

ZGameEditor is 100% Free Open Source software.

New features in 1.9.9 include:
  • render to texture
  • multiple render passes
  • web-connectivity
  • string support in scripting language
  • calling external libraries
And also many other improvements and changes!

I sent the info to the OpenGL.org frontpage and it immediately resulted in 1000 hits and 200 downloads. I also posted on Pascalgamedevloper and Indiegamer forums. Anyone got any more suggestions on where we can do some ZGE-marketing?

Hmm,

Have you submitted to gamedev.net already? They seem to have posted a news article back when 1.5.0 was released as well.

the tigsource.com forums seem like a good place, but i don't have an account there (and they frown upon first-post plugs). maybe jph will put in a good word, he's an active member.

Thanks jph. I've posted to gamedev now too, we'll see if they pick it up but there are lots of GDC-related news this week to compete with :)
