You may have, or are about to, read about how gamers have solved a molecular protein problem concerning the aids virus, by doing the puzzle game Foldit.
So I downloaded it and gave it a try. Worked through the 32 introductory puzzles and then tried the first elementary problem.
My report is,... I probably won't continue, because ...
1) The molecules are so complex you need a bigger led screen with higher resolution than I have.
2) The tools are so numerous I would have to go back through the intros at least once more, if not more often.
3) You need better vision than my aging eyes possess.
4) You need to be a perfectionist to possibly improve upon what someone has done before you.
5) You need time, lots of time.
If this sounds like you, then go ahead. I actually have another philanthropic project I'm awaiting the beginning of.
